Love thy talk radio
Love thy talk radio
I was listening to the radio today and they were talking about something unimportant to the point I am about to make. Yes I confess it was Bill O’Reilly. More like Bill O’ I have to have the last word-lly. Anyway the liberal punching bag that was on for the day said something that provoked a thought in my head and reminded me of the insaneness of Jesus’ commands.
Within the framework of her argument she reminded Bill that all religions teach “love thy neighbor”. Okay thanks for that piece of world religion education. Puts Jesus in the same category as Buddha, Muhammed, and the Hindi and I can live with that. In fact if everyone actually did love their neighbor the world would be a rosy place. We would go out of our way for everyone…but that would be easy since your neighbor is already loving you. Jesus is ready for this though. He knows not everybody will love their neighbor. He knows that there will be some who won’t find their neighbor very lovely or worth their own love. He knows some will actually never be objectively worthy of any love…your Hitlers Stalins and Maos
So he says a most profound thing. It gets Him booted out of the feel good “just love your neighbor and get by” religions.
Love your enemies
This should do it. Everyone is covered. Neighbors and enemies. Love those who wish you ill. Turn the cheek. Offer your coat. Walk another mile
With the person who hates you…wants to hurt your feelings…damage your pride…who will betray you…who throws your love right back in your face and especially those who won’t return it!
This flips my world upside down. My standard of love is demolished and created anew. Not only love the man next to you but seek out the one who is out to get you and love him. After a man robs you…take him to the bank and empty your account for him!!!
No Jesus is just speaking in hyperbole…an exaggeration.
That so…?
What about the soldiers that slapped Christ? Did He not love them? The ones who called out for His death were the ones for whom He died! Christ suffered and died for His enemies. I am sure turning a cheek, giving a cloak, and an extra mile is another day in the office for Him.
Jesus had His oneness with the Father to give and that is worth more cloaks, miles, money, power, and glory in the universe; and He let it go for a moment on the cross for the ones who were pleased in his sufferings. How dare I just love my neighbor.

right on.
very true. I have someone close to me right now, who hurt me worse than Ive ever been hurt in my entire life... why? because he pushed someone I loved and have prayed for for so long away from Christ and she said... "if that's how you live and act I am a better person than you and him. I want no part of your faith or you" to try to love someone, within the pain, feeling as if the battle has not only been lost, but all the treasure you built up has been plundered in someones bad testimony. love your neighbor. love them when you feel they took one of the last strongholds in your life. love your neighbor. love your neighbor and love your brother in Christ when he turned your little sister away from peace, heaven, and all things good. loving, I am finding, is more difficult than I ever though
